Is the sun rising or setting?

No matter how you look at it, the sun is always there to remind us that a day ushers in to more days. No matter how painful today is, another day will come and we're free to take it as it is or make it better than the last.

And though we lose sight of the sun during the night, it is replaced by hope that begins in the dark.

This sun, this hope... they never abandon you.

Photo is taken during sunrise at the shore of the Arabian Gulf.

A Jade Pond's Shimmering Splendour

At the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh, there is a small garden inside its fence and a pond that is jade green in color.

Green water, according to pond experts, is due to growth of large numbers of algae. The Embassy's green pond is not really an eyesore because it looks refreshing especially during summer.

Here are some photos that Kablogs took during a visit at the Embassy some weeks back.

Under the moonlit sky

While Tasmin Archer blames someone for "the moonlit sky and the dream that died", I don't.

While 'How to Make an American Quilt' thumbs down the full moon because it "give(s) people an excuse to do foolish things", I don't. In fact, I'm inspired by it and here are my proofs.

I know. I could have done better.

It's not the moonlit sky's fault; it's I.

Kuwait coffee adventure

by Nebz Bandiez

Ventured Al Koot in Kuwait and I can't help but notice the impressive line up of their coffee shops. What impressed me more is the architecture of the place: outdoors, near the sea, and waters a stone's throw away.

These coffee shops all came from various parts of the world.

Thanks to philippinecoffee.wordpress.com for the photo of Cafe de Lipa.

I Can't Think Well, I'm Hungry

At dahil Ramadan ngayon, at fiesta kada Eid, which means, a week or more holiday sa mga Pinoy dito sa Middle East, magpapakabusog tayo ayon sa tema ng TKJ this month.

Naglalaway ako. hehe (she said, she can give out recipe's daw).

It will take away the toxins daw sa katawan, plus it will add fiber sa katawan.

A singular majesty of a fountain

by Jose 'Pepe' V Cabrera

If Dubai is known for its Burj Khalifa, Jeddah in Saudi Arabia is best represented by King Fahd's Fountain, also known as the Jeddah Fountain, a mighty plume of water which the Guinness World Records claim as the tallest in the world at 300 meters!

Impressive facts and more impressive figures about the Jeddah Fountain.
- The first fountain was built between 1980 and 1983 with water height reaching 140 meters.
- The current fountain (the second which was built) was finished in 1985.
- Most fountains operate using fresh water; the Jeddah fountain uses sea water.
- Seven thousand tons of concrete were used just to construct the pump house which is the height of a five story building.”
- All the machinery and logistics are 20 to 30 meters under water in order to blend with the surroundings.
- The water leaves the 126mm nozzles at 42 bar (609.16 pounds per square inch) and at the incredible speed of 375 kph.
- The plume of water, when it hangs in the air for 15 seconds or so, weighs in excess of 18 tons (18,750 kg).
- Five hundred high intensity spot lights mounted on five custom-built islands illuminate the jet.
- The whole fountain operation is computer controlled and is maintained daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, half-yearly and yearly.
- Ten technicians, including rotating specialists and electricians are dedicated full time to the fountain’s operation.
- The only fresh water in the entire self-contained fountain complex is for cooling the electric motors of the main pumps and for the air-conditioning in the pump-house.
- The plume is taller than the Eiffel Tower.

Island hopping at Zambales

by Deth Vergara

Anawangin Cove is a 30 minute boat ride from Pundaquit, one of the main attraction of the island are the numerous pine trees w/c is an unlikely scene in Philippine beaches. It is one of the most visited among the four island, the place is too crowded, its hard to get a clear shot.

Capones island have this pretty old lighthouse. At the top you'll see a breathtaking view of the horizon, but to witness it you need to have enough will to survive the long climb up the lighthouse. I assure you it's worth the climb.

Nagsasa Island is my favorite among the islands that we visited in zambales, quiet and less crowd... the water is so clear, the view of mountains encircling the island is so beautiful, you just can't help but thank God, it was indeed a paradise.

Happy Campers - jump shots with my friends and cousin (Deth in yellow).

Scenic photos from a well-travelled blogger

Reynaldo Ramos (aka Reymos, online) hails from Sibuyan Island in Romblon and is currently residing in Northern Ireland (UK) since 2005 pursuing his postgraduate studies. He loves to collect beer mats, read books and take photographs during his travels in the Philippines and abroad. As a blogger, he also maintains several sites that show his passion in reading and travel photography.

Here are some of his wonderfully photographed subjects from his various travel.

The Antrim Coast situated in the north of Northern Ireland is regarded one of the most scenic of Britian and Ireland coastlines.

There may not be much elephants in Ko Chang in Thailand (Ko Chang loosely translates to 'elephant island' because it's shaped like an elephant's head) but it surely has wondeful beaches.

Sibuyan's pride is the majestic Cantingas River claimed as one of the cleanest inland waters in the world. Voted in 2003 as the cleanest river in Region IV-B and second cleanest river in the Philippines (it clinced the title as the cleanest in 2005). Sibuyan is located in Romblon, Philippines.

A paradise indeed! A small island in one of the regions of the Philippines. Crista de Gallo is an hour away from the mainland, Sibuyan Island (where Mt Guiting-guiting is also found) where the sun, sand and crystal blue water meet every day.

► Aside from his original homepage My world is getting smaller everyday, some of Reymos' photos can be seen in Your World in Images, flickr and also in Trivago (UK). His dream? To set-up a mini-library in his hometown and to publish a travel photo book showcasing the various interesting places that he has visited.
