560 years ago, someone from Germany engraved on wood the first Christmas 'card' (or more aptly, the first Christmas 'board').

150 years ago, the first commercially-sold Christmas cards was illustrated by John Callcott Horsley. It proved to be controversial because it depicted of a wine-drinking family with a small child.

135 years ago, United States had its first US-made Christmas card via Louis Prang.

95 years ago, Hallmark cards were created by John C Hall and brothers.
